The City of Hagerstown has grant and other funding to plant between 400-500 street trees throughout the City this fall. Let us know where you think they should go!

A few things to remember:

We have to be able to construct a tree pit of adequate size for the tree to grow. The size of the tree pit will vary based on tree species, but should be at least 4'x'6 for smaller trees and 6' x 8' for larger trees.

The tree has to be in front of the home, with two options:
a. located between the curb and sidewalk, in which case the City will maintain them
b. located in the front yard behind the sidewalk, in which case the property owner agrees to maintain the trees. Our contractor will dig the hole, set the tree and provide stakes and wiring. The property owner will remove the burlap, replace soil and stake the tree and then take care of it in the future including water for first year or two.

Trees cannot interfere with existing utilities, including overhead wires and should be 5-10 feet from underground pipes such as sewer, water, gas and electric.
